Robin A. Bell,
Robin is a self-taught photographer who currently lives in Thibodaux, Louisiana with her two youngest children, a schnoodle named Scout and Cappy the cat. Her formative years were spent in Australia, England, and Scotland before returning to the United States to attend university. She currently works as a school psychologist in Napoleonville, Louisiana.
Swamp Dog and Friends was conceived and developed by Robin and her friend and colleague, Jennie Alexandry in March 2005. Their photographic work highlights the rich culture of South Louisiana, its “down the bayou” critters and dog portraiture.
Robin’s current project, the book Lounge Hounds of New Orleans, features her canine subjects on location in some of the most famous bars and restaurants in the Crescent City. This unique and whimsical collection captures the beauty of the architecture, the mystique of the cocktail and the spirit of old New Orleans, all served with a Canine Twist. Lounge Hounds of New Orleans is scheduled for release in October 2010.
Music and Sound Engineer
Barbara began her career performing live music at the age of 18. Today she is an accomplished musician, song-writer, recording engineer and licensed clinical social worker. She is currently a practicing psychotherapist in Thibodaux, Louisiana where she specializes in music and cognitive behavioral therapy.
Jennie T. Alexandry,
Jennie was born and raised in Thibodaux, Louisiana where she currently shares her home with 3 dogs and 4 cats. She is a life long musician, song-writer and, psychologist. She is currently working on her first book and musical play titled The Magic Swamp, a story about the tragic aftermath of a great hurricane, a lost dog, an emotionally shattered man and the healing power of a magic swamp and its mystical creatures.
Arch A. Bell,
Arch, Robin’s father, comes to Swamp Dog & Friends with his own creative energy and unique talents. As a small boy he taught himself the skills needed to design and build his own toys, a necessity for a youngster during the Depression. Today Arch keeps busy designing and building frames using recycled wood gathered from the South Louisiana bayou area. Each frame is a one of a kind, blending color and wood texture to match each photograph.
